I've been playing with mass-produced keyboards for a long time, but this time, because it's the closest I've come to customization, at least in terms of the processing of the keyboard casing, it's completely customized, but I chose to use a wood that's easier to work with.
In the darker color of walnut and wood color more distinctive between the rosewood I chose the latter, this wood color texture I like more, I used to a lot of wooden hand rests are mostly chosen rosewood, the two better match.
In terms of processing, Opal's keyboard should be classified as customized, with the wooden casing made from a single plank of wood hollowed out by a CNC process.
Of course, the cost of raw materials and the difficulty of processing wood and pure customized metal are not in the same order of magnitude, but in terms of texture, wood is a unique flavor, especially the natural texture, each and every one of them is different and unique, which is not available in mass-produced keyboards.
In addition to the wooden casing, the highly spherical MO keycaps (hereinafter referred to as MO ballcaps) also bring this keyboard one step closer to customization.
MO ball cap is the product of customization, for the mass user, this short keycap is difficult to access, in the mass production keyboard is not common, in my memory only remember before RECCAZR launched a R99-PRObotinal color mechanical keyboard is equipped with this MO height spherical keycap.
Wood grain presents irregular distribution, which I like very much, now many products in order to create a wood effect are used to filming techniques, this texture distribution is too regular, a glance feels very fake, not real, or this pure wood look to come true and comfortable.
